Yes To Grapefruit Brightening Mud Mask Review

I’m so grateful for all the new goodies I received as Christmas gifts since that means I can review more products! A quick heads up for this post: I’m reviewing the single use version of this facial mask but it does come in different forms (cleanser, wipes, etc). Now on to the review!

If you know me, then you know that I LOVE trying out new skincare products (especially when it comes to masks). With single use versions everywhere, it’s hard to resist the temptation. So when I saw this as a Christmas gift, I was super excited. I suffer from skin discoloration due to bad acne I had when I was a teenager which left me with dark marks along my jawline that I still hope to get rid of one day. I’ve been trying new products for the longest time to get rid of them. This product says that it helps with dull and uneven skin so I was expecting great results. Also, the fact that it’s 95% natural is a huge plus (I’m trying to only use natural products on my face).

Ingredients

  • 95% natural-contains no parabens and silicones

  • Grapefruit-contains antioxidants that help promote healthy skin

  • Vitamin C-helps brighten skin naturally

  • Pink Kaolin Clay-helps gently exfoliate to show brighter skin and helps absorb oil

  • Vegan

How to use

You apply the mask to clean skin and leave on for 5-10 minutes, after which you rinse off. Pretty simple.

my experience

First off, I was a little confused as to whether or not I was supposed to use all of the mask that was given in the package. It seemed like way too much for my face and against my better judgement, I ended up putting the entire package on my face. This may not seem like an issue but I’ll talk about that coming up.

I found it easier to apply when ripping the package open

I applied the mask after using my using my usual skincare routine products (Teami Green Tea Facial Scrub and Repair Facial Oil) and left it on for the max 10 minutes. I noticed a slight warmth coming from my face and wasn’t sure if that was supposed to happen. I didn’t know if my face was irritated from using the scrub and mask back to back. As I said earlier, I applied the ENTIRE PACKAGE to my face and felt like it was too much. It was an extremely thick layer which isn’t what I’m used to with other face masks. Of course as it’s drying, your face feels tight, but not tight to the point where you can’t freely talk or make facial expressions. When it came time to rinse it off, it actually took me about 10 minutes to get everything completely off my face. Once again, I don’t know if it was my mistake using the entire package or poor production by the company. Needless to say I was very annoyed and tired. At that point I was expecting a miracle to happen and my face to be brighter than ever.

The results left me disappointed. My face didn’t look any brighter. The mask does claim to shrink pores which I did notice an improvement with. The main benefit I got from this mask was how dry (in a good way) my face was left. Absolutely no oil was seen and I was perfectly matte. The pictures below are in order of:

1) Before washing my face

2) After washing my face and before the face mask

3) After the face mask

Let me know if you can see any difference between the pictures. (Excuse the messy hair)

Would I recommend this mask? Yes, but not to those looking for a quick easy fix for skin discoloration. Maybe with repeated use this mask will show improvement but I would recommend this for those who have oily skin. This mask is amazing at drying everything up so be sure to moisturize afterwards. I would also tell you to not put the entire package on your face and only use enough to where your skin is coated and not heavily saturated.

Have you tried this mask and had better results? Feel free to let me know in the comments as I’m curious!
